Pure wax ribbons smudge instantly under this friction, but the resin component in the AP6088 locks the ink tightly onto the cardstock, ensuring your barcodes, pricing, and care instructions remain crisp and readable.

Coated / Semi-Gloss Cardstock: The most popular premium retail tag material. The AP6088 bonds exceptionally well to the smooth clay coating, preventing any ink flaking.
Matte / Uncoated Board: Provides clear, dark print results, though texture variations may require a slight darkness increase.
Kraft Paper Tags: Gives a rustic or eco-friendly look. The AP6088 maintains crisp text edges even on slightly fibrous surfaces.

Because hang tags are significantly thicker than standard stickers (usually 200gsm to 350gsm cardstock) and rely on Black Marks or Die-Cut Notches/Holes instead of gaps, you must adjust your printer hardware and software settings accordingly:

💡 Golden Rules for Printing Hang Tags
The "Over-Width" Ribbon Rule (Critical): Hang tags have raw, rigid, and sharp cardboard edges. The AP6088 ribbon must be wider than the tag itself. For example, if your hang tag is 50mm wide, you must use a 60mm ribbon. If the tag is wider than the ribbon, the exposed cardboard edge will scrape directly across the bare printhead, permanently scratching and ruining it within a few rolls.
Sensor Alignment: Since tags lack backing paper, slide your printer’s reflective sensor directly under the black mark line printed on the back of the tag, or line up the transmissive sensor with the physical punch-hole/side notch.
Cutting: If you are using a continuous roll of tag stock, verify that your printer is equipped with a Heavy-Duty Industrial Cutter module that can cleanly slice through thick cardstock without jamming.
